In this age of information overload, how do we help our people remember sermons and apply them to their lives? By Wednesday, they’ve seen tons of shows and web series, read social media posts and news articles, seen tons of Instagram pics, had many conversations, and maybe even read a book.
At Sojourn New Albany, we help people remember and dive deeper into the Sunday sermon material by hosting The Midweek Checkup, a weekly web series on our Facebook page, Vimeo, our smartphone app and Rightnow Media each Wednesday at 11am. Every week three friends and I discuss the previous Sunday’s sermon and answer sermon discussion questions. We post an audio version in the Sojourn New Albany podcast, and video versions online.
Check out some of this week’s Checkup, in either the Facebook or Vimeo embedded videos below. The Checkup friends discuss the latest sermon (on Matt 19:16-30), and: the Dave Ramsey method, being “owned” by your stuff, the addictive power of video games and smart phones, lessons from Bible figures Phoebe, Ananias & Saphira, and Lydia, the healing power of generosity, the “righteous” and “unrighteous” poor, & more.
