Helping Members Remember-Discuss Sermons – Midweek Checkup Sept 2

In this age of information overload, how do we help our people remember sermons and apply them to their lives? By Wednesday, they’ve seen tons of shows and web series, read social media posts and news articles, seen tons of Instagram pics, had many conversations, and maybe even read a book.

At Sojourn New Albany, we help people remember and dive deeper into the Sunday sermon material by hosting The Midweek Checkup, a weekly web series on our Facebook page, Vimeo, our smartphone app and Rightnow Media each Wednesday at 11am. Every week I converse with Lindsey Blair (Deacon and Women’s Ministry Director), Jazmin Trejo Oliver (Community Group Leader) and Michael Miller (Connect Director).

We discuss the previous Sunday’s sermon and answer sermon discussion questions. We post an audio version in the Sojourn New Albany podcast, and video versions online. Check out some of this week’s Checkup, in either the Facebook or Vimeo embedded videos below. The Checkup friends discuss the latest sermon (on Isaiah 58),  all the creative generosity Sojourners have displayed this summer, misreadings of 2 Timothy 3:10 (“if you don’t work, you don’t eat”), lessons from Jesus’ time on earth, fighting for joy, and more.
