Liturgical Reading For The Offering In Times Of Joy

by Bobby Gilles

in Liturgy & Sermons

Here is a script I’ve written for the offering portion of our worship service liturgy, specifically to go along with a sermon on joy. Feel free to use it in your own worship services. And you can get more liturgical readings in our Liturgy & Sermons category here at My Song In The Night.

“God loves a cheerful giver,” the Bible tells us. But what is joyful about giving to God’s church, when holding onto it would make our lives easier or allow us to do more of the things we love?

Read the underlined portions aloud with me:

Lord, because of your resurrection
We will dance on our own graves someday.
We give cheerfully, because of your
Death-defying, life-enriching love for us.

Amen.

If you’re not a Christian, we’re not asking for your money. This service is our gift to you. For those who can say, “The joy of the Lord is my strength,” the giving baskets will go around as we continue to sing.

Get chord sheet, piano lead sheet and audio for the modern offering hymn “All I Have Is Yours.”
