Yesterday, the preview (above) for Paramount’s upcoming biblical epic film Noah began working it’s way through the web. If reports on the script and advance screenings are accurate, director Darren Oronofsky’s Noah (starring Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson) will not be a strict retelling of the Genesis account.
I’ve written before about how songwriters like Bob Dylan appropriate source material for their own purposes. For many Christians, the Bible itself should be off limits to this kind of thing. What do you think?
Are you interested in seeing Noah?

No I am not. After my children have been confused about what is really in the Bible after seeing other Bible Stories on the screen. I no longer watch Bible stories.
I am thinking about seeing it. what if the world sees it and Christians don’t, and you’ll miss that glimmer of hope? Like all bible movies, they start a spark of interest in the topic. Ok, so it may not be exactly like the bible story. But it will give the opportunity to share with a non believer. If people at work know that you’re a Christian, they’re going to ask you about it.
Not me! God’s Word never returns void – even when used as a tool for mammon like this – and there will be those making and watching this movie who for the first time consider seeking answers in the Bible …
But you don’t have to partake of everything the world offers as a casual gesture to the Church to be taken as a Christ follower by the world… seriously enough to hate or to listen.
