A Look Ahead and A Look Behind

Thanks to each of you who visit us at My Song In The Night each day, and thanks to those of you who have discovered us over the last couple weeks. For anyone new to the site, here are some recent posts you may enjoy, some features of this site, and some things coming up:

TheResurgence.com:

Today our good friends at The Resurgence have published our article From Without, From Within, From BeyondDoes It Matter Where Your Worship Songs Come From? There, we weigh the benefits of choosing songs for congregational worship from within your congregation, from the past, and from popular contemporary writers.

Recently:

Last week Bobby interviewed one of our favorite singer-songwriters, John Mark McMillan. McMillan, who has written songs like “How He Loves,” “Death In His Grave” and “Sheet Of Night,” had a lot of good points for worship leaders, songwriters and musicians to consider. If you enjoy that interview, read some others from our Interviews category.

We also thank you for several thousand downloads of our new free worship EP The Whole Big Story. Bobby and I wrote these songs together, and I recorded them with the Sojourn band. If you haven’t gotten your free download yet, get it now in the column to your right.

Finally, many people have enjoyed our Expand Your Worship Song Themes With This Easy, Gospel-Centered System, and article about An Idea For Church Services On Mother’s Day.

Upcoming:

Next week, we’ll bring you an interview with Mars Hill worship leader/songwriter Brian Eichelberger. Brian leads The Sing Team, which has recently released an EP of their own called Oh! Great Is Our God!

We’ll also bring you articles on rhyme schemes (and the danger of mixing rhyme schemes in the same song) and the “Top Ten Things People Say When They Meet A Worship Songwriter.”

Have a good weekend, and peace be with you.
