Why Should All Christians Care About Adoption & Orphan Care?

Kristen and I wrote about the doctrine of adoption in My Song In The Night, the theme song of this website (which you can download for free in the player on your right):

Oh why should I wander away from your care
Or fear for my future — You’ve made me an heir,
Adopted by God to the Kingdom of Light —
You conquered the darkness, my song in the night.

In two weeks, our church Sojourn will partner with Orphan Care Alliance for a free seminar that will present the different types of orphan care from a Christian perspective. Attendees will learn about adoption myths, funding, domestic versus international adoption issues, choosing agencies & more.

I sat down with Josh Thomas, Director of Seed (Sojourn’s mercy ministry) and Kris Zoeller of Orphan Care Alliance for an eight-minute interview, which you can hear below. Learn about the vision and history of Orphan Care Alliance, what they do in their seminars, and the answer to this important question:

A lot of people may never be able to adopt or be interested in adopting a child to their own nuclear family. Why is this is still something all Christians should be interested in, and why should people learn about orphan care?

If you’ll be in Louisville on Saturday, April 21, register to attend the free Adoption & Orphan Care Seminar Saturday, from 8:30am – 3:00pm.  Continental breakfast and lunch provided.
