Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. You can also watch the video stream of the whole service from our Facebook page here (you can also see a video of our sermon alone, below).
Our liturgy is directed by Worship Director Justin Shaffer, in collaboration with our Creative Staff at Sojourn Church New Albany, and our Liturgy writing team (Rebekah Carroll, Ryan Marsh, and Lindsey Blair).
This Sunday Pastor Stephen Pierce preached from 2 Samuel 12 in our series entitled Desecrated.
—Prelude: “Abide” Key, Leader
CALL TO WORSHIP: Liturgist
Good morning! Welcome to Sojourn!
Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
-Psalm 32:11 NIV
—Song 2: “Build My Life” Key, Leader
CONFESSION: Band Member
1 Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
2 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent,
my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night
your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
as in the heat of summer.
-Psalm 32:1-4 NIV
—Song 3: “The Water and the Blood” Key, Leader
ASSURANCE & GIVING: Liturgist
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
6 Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
will not reach them.
7 You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
9 Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him
-Psalm 32:5-10 NIV
—Song 4: “Love as You Love” Key, Leader
PEACE: Band Member
…we follow a leader who welcomes and eats with sinners like us (Luke 15)…

BENEDICTION: Liturgist
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. [Go in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Peace be with you!
-2 Corinthians 5:16-21
