in Liturgy & Sermons

Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. You can also watch the video stream of the whole service from our Facebook page or here below (you can also see a video of our sermon alone, from Vimeo).

Our liturgy is directed by Worship Director Justin Shaffer, in collaboration with our Creative Staff at Sojourn Church New Albany, and our Liturgy writing team (Rebekah Carroll, Ryan Marsh, and Lindsey Blair).

This Sunday Pastor Jonah Sage preached from Genesis 3:1-24 in our series Sacred. Libby Thorngate was our Lector.

—Prelude: “Lead Us, Holy Spirit” Key, Justin

CALL TO WORSHIP:   Liturgist

Themes: Abundance… eager to provide, inspire creativity. Safety with our reliable God who doesn’t withhold good things from his children – He’s generous and inspires confidence.

1 Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth!

2     Sing about the glory of his name!

Tell the world how glorious he is.

3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!

Your enemies cringe before your mighty power.

4 Everything on earth will worship you;

they will sing your praises,

shouting your name in glorious songs.”

8 Let the whole world bless our God

and loudly sing his praises.

9 Our lives are in his hands,

and he keeps our feet from stumbling.

10 You have tested us, O God;

you have purified us like silver.

We went through fire and flood,

but you brought us to a place of great abundance.

-Psalm 66:1-4, 8-10, 12b NLT

—Song 2: “This is the Christ” Key, Libby

CHILD DEDICATION:  Stephen & Crissy

—Song 3: “I Need Thee Every Hour” Key, Jordan

ASSURANCE & GIVING: Liturgist

Hear the word of the Lord:

“I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. 9 Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. 10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.                            -John 10:7b-10 NLT

—Song 4: “God Who Saves” Key, Libby
