in Liturgy & Sermons

Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. You can also watch the video stream of the whole service from our Facebook page, or here below (you’ll also see a higher resolution video of the sermon alone).

Our liturgy is written by Worship Director Justin Shaffer, in collaboration with our Creative Team at Sojourn Church New Albany and worship staff at the other four Sojourn Collective churches in the Louisville area.

This Sunday, following the scripture reading by Worship Leader Kristen Gilles, Pastor Jonah Sage preached from Daniel 5 in our series from the book of Daniel, Stand: Staying Strong In A World Of Chaos. To learn more about Sojourn Church, click here.

Psalm 25

CALL TO WORSHIP

Welcome to Sojourn! I’m____ one of the_____. We have many reasons to praise God this morning, and to worship with gladness! As we begin our worship service together, let’s reflect on how God has sustained us through this week… Remember the ways He has demonstrated His love for you. Let’s read this Psalm together:

Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and he Helps me.
My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
The Lord is the strength of His people, a fortress of salvation for His anointed ones.
Save Your people and bless Your us, Your special possession;
Lord, be our shepherd and carry us forever.
—adapted from Psalm 28:7-9

Let’s continue to worship our Great God!

How Great Thou Art

CONFESSION

(Confess pride among other things) ?? VERY brief, almost subversive intro to praying the Bible/Psalm (Whitney)

“Let’s hear from God’s word, making space to hear from our Father. Pay attention to what stirs in you and where the Lord may be leading you…”

Show me the right path, O Lord;

point out the road for me to follow. Speak Lord, your servant is listening

-(30 second pause)-

Lead me by your truth and teach me,

for you are the God who saves me.

All day long I put my hope in you. Speak Lord, your servant is listening

-(30 second pause)-

**Repeat

Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love,

which you have shown from long ages past. Speak Lord, your servant is listening

Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth.

Remember me in the light of your unfailing love,

for you are merciful, O Lord. Speak Lord, your servant is listening                                                                -Psalm 25:4-7 NLT

The Water and the Blood

ASSURANCE & GIVING

Spoken

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.                                                             -1 John 3:16 NIV

…that we may join with the Psalmist in saying: “O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!” (Psalm 25:1-2a NLT)
