Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. You can also watch the video stream of the whole service from our Facebook page, or here below.

Our liturgy is written by worship director Justin Shaffer in collaboration with worship directors at other Sojourn churches.

This Sunday guest speaker Kevin Galloway of Christ Church preached from Matthew 7:7-12 in our series from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7, The Good Life: Living The More You Were Made ForTo learn more about Sojourn Church, click here.

The Master’s Calling

CALL TO WORSHIP

Welcome!

7 The Lord reigns forever;

    he has established his throne for judgment.

8 He rules the world in righteousness

and judges the peoples with equity.

9 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,

    a stronghold in times of trouble.

10 Those who know your name trust in you,

for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

11 Sing the praises of the Lord, enthroned in Zion;

    proclaim among the nations what he has done.                                              -Psalm 9:7-11 NIV

Amen! Let’s worship him together!

In Christ Alone

LAMENT

Last week pastor Jonah taught…

1 Justice—do you rulers know the meaning of the word?

    Do you judge the people fairly?

2 No! You plot injustice in your hearts.

    You spread violence throughout the land.

…vengeance is not inherently evil, but it is ALWAYS corrupted by sinners. Scripture teaches that “vengeance is the Lord’s.”

10 The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged.

11 Then at last everyone will say,

“There truly is a reward for those who live for God;

surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”

-Psalm 58:10b-11 NLT

…no matter the injustices we see and face, we can take a deep solace in this reality.

ASSURANCE & GIVING

Hear this glorious assurance recorded in Acts:

They put him to death by hanging him on a cross, 40 but God raised him to life on the third day. Then God allowed him to appear, 41 not to the general public, but to us whom God had chosen in advance to be his witnesses. We were those who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God to be the judge of all—the living and the dead. 43 He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.”                                                                                                     -Acts 9:39b-43 NLT

PASSING OF THE PEACE

As we greet one another today in the peace of Christ, take just enough time to testify to one thing the Lord has done for you.

BENEDICTION

As you depart today,
may the strength of God pilot you,
the power of God uphold you,
the wisdom of God guide you.
May the eye of God look before you,
the ear of God hear you,
the word of God speak for you.
May the hand of God protect you,
the way of God lie before you,
the shield of God defend you,
the host of God save you.
May Christ shield you today.
Go in the knowledge that Christ is with you and walk in the Spirit. Peace be with you!
