Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. And if you’d like to see how we incorporate liturgical art and lead the responsive readings, watch the embedded video of our entire service, or check it out on the Sojourn New Albany Facebook page. Below that, you can watch a higher res video of the sermon itself.

Our liturgy is written by worship director Justin Shaffer in collaboration with worship directors at other Sojourn churches.
This Sunday Pastor Jonah Sage preached from James 5:16-20, as part of our James: Faith That Works series. Learn more about Sojourn Community Church here.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Good morning! I’m _______ one of the ______ here… We begin each Sunday gathering by looking to God’s word to catch a glimpse of who he is, and to remind one another of his promises – hear the word of the Lord:

God is our refuge and strength,

an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

The Lord Almighty is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress.

-Psalm 46

As we continue to worship, may our hearts and minds be soft and open to receiving nourishment from God’s word, by his Spirit, and in the fellowship of the saints gathered here today!

ASSURANCE/GIVING

We need to hear regularly that God is very aware of all our shortcomings, and yet he loves us still.  We need to be reminded that God is for us and has our back. God is in control.  Let us again look to his word and hear these things directly. The Psalmist says:

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—

he who watches over you will not slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—

the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—

he will watch over your life;

the Lord will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.

Psalm 121 (NIV)

Hallelujah!

Last week pastor Jonah taught _______,let us together consider how we may put this into practice as the giving baskets are passed around and we prepare our tithes and offerings.

PASSING OF THE PEACE

Thank you Jesus! We gather to worship the resurrected Christ and we have hope of the day our salvation is complete and we shall be saved to sin no more! …and because of his resurrection, we too have been raised to walk in newness of life, and are new creations- at peace with God, and at peace with one another. Let’s play an active role and pass that peace to one another now 🙂

BENEDICTION

May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it! [Peace be with you!] -1 Thess. 5:23-24 (The Message)
