Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. And if you’d like to see how we incorporate liturgical art and lead the responsive readings, watch the embedded video of our entire service, or check it out on the Sojourn New Albany Facebook page. Our liturgy is written by worship director Justin Shaffer in collaboration with worship directors at other Sojourn churches.

CALL TO WORSHIP (Kristen Leads, Justin Plays)
Welcome and Happy Father’s Day! Welcome to sojourn! I’m ______ one of the ______ here…
Every time we gather, the Church comes to celebrate the mystery, power and beauty of our triune God. Our worship as the church is made possible by God – Father, Son, and Spirit. We worship God the father, by the power of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and through our High Priest, Jesus Christ who draws us near to Him.
Let us echo the words of the Psalmist:
LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When we consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Praise him for his mighty works and unequaled greatness!
Let everything that has breath praise God!
– Based on Psalm 8 and Psalm 150:6

PRAYER (Justin Leads, Kristen and Steve Play)
Pray this with me:
Praise be to you, O God the Father:
You created all things by your power and wisdom
and so loved the world that you gave your Son to be our Savior.
Praise be to you, O God the Son:
You became human like us in all things, but lived without sin,
died for our offenses, and rose again for our justification.
Praise be to you, O God the Holy Spirit:
You lead us into all truth and spread the love of God in our hearts
Holy God, we often mold you into something less than you are and doubt your love and power in our lives.
Forgive us Lord. Help us to see you and to know you more fully.
Fill us with the vision of your glory, that we may always serve and praise you. Amen
Holy, Holy, Holy written by Reginald Haber and John B. Dykes.
ASSURANCE/GIVING (Steve and Justin Lead, Kristen and Steve Play)
Let’s recite this great truth together:
We have not received a spirit that makes us fearful slaves. Instead, we received God’s Spirit when he adopted us as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. – Romans 8:15-17
God has shown us the meaning of generosity in the beautiful diversity of creation, in the overflowing love of Jesus Christ, in the never-ending gift of the Holy Spirit. He’s blessed us and called us to be a community that honors each other, serves with joy, shares our love and material possessions.
Let’s rejoice in what we have been given and in what is ours to give. Let’s pray:
O God,
our offerings proclaim that work and worship are one,
that life is undivided.
Use these gifts for your church’s ministries
of reconciliation, service, and mercy. Amen.
Let’s continue to sing as the giving baskets are passed around… 🙂 ALSO please note the information on the screen about new ways to give online and through text giving 🙂

PASSING OF THE PEACE (Kristen Leads, Justin Plays)
…and there is power in his name to redeem and restore us to one another in him with a peace that surpasses anything we could muster in our own strength. Let’s get to know each other a bit better and particularly wish the father’s around you Happy Father’s Day!

BENEDICTION (Justin Leads, Joe Plays)
I hope that after today’s sermon, the meaning of our benediction will have greater depth. Receive this blessing for the road knowing that God delights in you and present to walk with you through the highs and lows of life: May God make you strong in faith and love,
defend you on every side, and guide you in truth as he rejoices over you with singing. Peace be with you!
