Welcome to Sojourn’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap. You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. And if you’d like to see how we incorporate liturgical art and lead the responsive readings, watch the embedded video of our entire service, or check it out on the Sojourn New Albany Facebook page. Our liturgy is written by worship director Justin Shaffer in collaboration with worship directors at other Sojourn churches.
This Sunday Pastor Jonah Sage preached a sermon on James 1:13-18. Learn more about Sojourn Community Church here.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Good morning, and welcome to Sojourn! We’re called here today by the Rock of ages, by the God who made all things and reigns over all creation. Whether we’re aware of it or not, he is Lord over everyone and everything- let’s hear about this great God from his Word:
The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he!
-Psalm 99:1-3 (ESV)
Let us worship our King!
Come Thou Fount written by Robert Robinson.
CONFESSION
Almighty and most merciful Father;
We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.
We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
We have offended against thy holy laws.
We have left undone those things which we ought to have done;
And we have done those things which we ought not to have done;
And there is no health in us.
But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders.
Spare thou those, O God, who confess their faults.
Restore thou those who are penitent;
According to thy promises declared unto mankind In Christ Jesus our Lord.

ASSURANCE/GIVING
Sisters and brothers, though our sin was great… God’s grace was greater still! Though we fail, God hears our prayers and forgives us of sin. Hear this assurance from God’s Word
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:11-14 NIV)
While we were still enslaved to our own sinfulness, Jesus came to earth and brought us back to God… he bought us with his life… he redeemed us from evil. God has the power to break our cycles of sin and give us freedom in his ways.
He also has the power to multiply our efforts and resources to carry this glorious gospel of grace. Let’s join together as a church and pray silently now… for wisdom in the stewardship of our resources, that God would turn our once greedy hearts toward generosity, and that our efforts would be totally in line with the heart of Jesus.
SILENT PRAYER
Amen! Let’s sing as the giving baskets are passed around and we prepare our tithes and offerings 🙂
There is a Peace written by Charlie Richardson.
PEACE
…and he has the power to restore our broken relationships. He has the power to take what IS… and make it beautiful. He has redeemed us… restored us into right relationship with himself and as a family. As we reflect on this most beautiful act, we can’t help but share it. Let’s share this peace now as we take a moment to greet one another. 🙂
