Our Miscarriage: Bless The Lord Who Gives And Takes

Dear friends,

Bobby and I wanted to let you know that I had a miscarriage Monday night, February 8 (almost 9 weeks pregnant). We saw the doctor and had an ultrasound that morning and it appeared our baby had stopped growing about three weeks before then.

This loss is just as sad as when Parker died but less painful (physically), and I’m thankful for that. I’m also comforted knowing that this child is safe with Jesus and together with a big brother, two cousins (my brother’s twins miscarried three years ago this week), and lots of grandparents.

Of course our baby was too young for us to know the gender. Last week we went to Florida on a getaway generously arranged by our pastor Jonah Sage, during which we came up with a name for our baby that would work for either male or female: Piper Jordan. Someday we’ll be united with Piper, Parker, and many more loved ones as we praise God forever together. This is our hope.

“I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.” — 2 Samuel 12:23
