I’m preaching on Psalm 142 Sunday, May 24 at Sojourn Church of New Albany, Indiana on May 24 (which is Pentecost Sunday, and the day before Memorial Day). I’ll be preaching about loneliness, as part of Sojourn Church’s Emotion & Devotion sermon series. I’d love to see you there if you’re local (or if you want to travel to the Louisville area for your Memorial weekend).
For fun, I asked all my social media friends to pick songs for a “loneliness” playlist. I didn’t nominate any songs myself, nor did Kristen, but we would have seconded many of your choices. This is a great playlist. Without any further adieu, here are all your choices — over 40 songs about loneliness, classic and contemporary, from many different artists like Johnny Cash, REM, Prince, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Nina Simon, Wilco, Otis Redding, U2, All Sons & Daughters and more.
I couldn’t include a few songs that received votes, because those artists have elected not to put their music on Spotify. The biggest group of exclusions were songs by the Beatles. Still, this playlist is nearly three hours worth of music.
Follow Kristen on Spotify to see our many worship song playlists, covering Easter, Lent, modern hymns, upbeat worship music, songs for those who are grieving, songs of mission, songs about the Trinity and more.
