For nearly six years I’ve served on full-time staff in Communications ministry at Sojourn Community Church. This is a “global” position, meaning that the Communications team serves each of Sojourn’s four campuses.
As a member and deacon, I’ve been a part of our New Albany, Indiana campus since the campus launched in 2011. In fact, Kristen and I live in New Albany, five minutes from the campus.
For the past couple months, I’ve been in a transitional role at Sojourn, in preparation to transfer full time to the Sojourn New Albany staff, where I will be the deacon in charge of campus operations and our Community Life. For those of you interested in this kind of thing, you can see my full LinkedIn profile and job description here.
For most of my time on Sojourn’s staff, I was Director of Communications. This past summer, Sojourn hired my friend Lindsey Poenie for this role, while I transferred to the transitional title Content Strategist. For the rest of 2014 my main duties included the creation and curation of content on the new sojournchurch.com, designed by Josh Starr of Solid Giant, with graphic layout & design direction and support by Chris Bennett. We made a great team, and I’m proud of how the site looks on a variety of devices and operating systems.
I also worked with Josh to create individual sermon podcasts for each Sojourn campus on iTunes, like Sojourn New Albany’s here, and I assisted Lindsey and her Comm team by editing and writing for special projects and weekly materials. I’m so honored to have worked with this team, every one of whom are godly, talented women and men.
Now, I’m excited to have begun fully stepping into my role at Sojourn New Albany, which is led by Pastor Jonah Sage. I love this church — the members, community group, the leadership, and all the staff and interns that I’ll be working with each day. I’m sure I’ll blog about it from time to time, here at MySongInTheNight.com — mistakes, successes, things I’ll learn and things we do that may be helpful to others in my position.
I’d appreciate your prayers as I step into this new role. Thanks, friends.
