Photo Blog: Sojourn’s Back To School Bash

Yesterday at the New Albany campus of Sojourn Community Church, we hosted hundreds of families at our Back To School Bash for the neighborhoods surrounding our campus. As a church, we had collected $9000 worth of seven school supplies that local teachers require each child to bring when class starts later this week.

We assembled 600 bags, each containing these seven items: 1 box, 2 dry erase markers, 2 glue sticks, 1 box of 24 #2 yellow pencils, 1 bottle of hand sanitizer, 1 box of 24 crayons, 3-pack of flat erasers.

We handed them out to kids during the Bash. We also provided lots of kids games, music, and lots of good food. Check out a slideshow of this event, through the photography of deacon Chuck Heeke (you can also view the photos on Chuck’s Flickr page:
